ENRICO GARACI, MD is currently Professor in the Department of Experimental Medicine and Biochemical Sciences at the University of Rome 'Tor Vergata'. Professor Garaci is a leading clinical and basic researcher in the fields of host-pathogen interactions and immunotherapy of cancer and hepatitis infections. He was recently appointed as President of Italy's 'National Institutes of Health'.
Professor Garaci was involved with numerous animal and human clinical trials which studied the effects of interferons and other immunomodulatory peptides on human viral infections and the benefits of 'combination therapy' for treating cancer.
Recently, Professor Garaci has been studying the effects of immunomodulators on MHC gene expression and the presence and characterization of unique tumor antigens in colorectal cancer. Professor Garaci received his MD from the University of Rome.
